"It has been a long-held ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond the pitch. UD Almeria is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth."
"[Ronaldo] is regarded as the greatest to ever play the game, he knows the Spanish leagues very well and he understands the potential of what we are building here both in terms of the team and the academy."
Cristiano Ronaldo has become co-owner of UD Almeria, a Spanish second division club, by purchasing a 25% share through his CR7 Sports Investments company. The club is owned by a Saudi Arabian investment consortium led by Mohammed Al-Khereiji. Ronaldo expressed his long-held ambition to contribute to football beyond playing and highlighted Almeria's strong foundations and growth potential. Al-Khereiji praised Ronaldo's knowledge of Spanish leagues and understanding of the club's development strategy. Almeria was acquired by Al-Khereiji's SMC Group last year from previous owner Turki Al-Sheikh. Currently, Almeria ranks third in Segunda division, two points behind leaders Real Racing with 15 matches remaining.
