Reece Walsh, a straight rugby fullback, received homophobic abuse from spectators at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool after being temporarily sidelined during Australia's match against England. Crowd chants targeted his nail polish and included a homophobic slur and the word "b*****d." Walsh smiled and responded to a fan with the remark, "Are you still a virgin?" Australia won the match 14-4. Walsh has a child with former girlfriend Freda Puru and previously faced similar abuse after posting a photo with pink nails amid false rumours about a nail-polish ban. Other athletes, including Caleb Williams, have faced comparable abuse.
