Mohamed Salah was named the PFA men's Player of the Year for 2025, becoming the first footballer to win the honour three times. The 33-year-old forward led Liverpool as they reclaimed the Premier League title, finishing as top scorer with 29 goals and adding 18 assists. Salah also secured Premier League Player of the Season and the FWA Footballer of the Year, completing a sweep of individual awards for 2024-25. He prevailed over a shortlist including Alexis Mac Allister, Bruno Fernandes, Alexander Isak, Cole Palmer and Declan Rice. Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers won PFA Young Player of the Year, and Gareth Southgate received the PFA Merit Award after stepping down following sustained national-team success.
Speaking after collecting his latest award, Salah reflected on his journey from Egypt to the pinnacle of European football. "Of course I wanted to be a football player and I wanted to be famous and provide for my family, but you don't think about the big stuff when you are still in Egypt," he said. "When you grow, you start to see things differently and you start to have ambition and you start to see the bigger picture."
Salah beat competition from Liverpool team-mate Alexis Mac Allister, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Chelsea forward Cole Palmer, and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, who were also shortlisted. Elsewhere, Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers was named PFA Young Player of the Year after his impressive performances in Unai Emery's side last season. The PFA Merit Award went to former England manager Gareth Southgate, in recognition of his contribution to the national team and the wider game.
