Scottish football: Celtic celebrate O'Neill's homecoming with 4-0 Falkirk rout
"Celtic fans continued their protest against Dermot Desmond, the club's major shareholder, and the board outside the stadium before the game due, in part, to a perceived poor summer transfer window. Desmond sat in the directors' box and watched his fellow Irishman Johnny Kenny fire Celtic into the lead after half an hour and then head in a second 10 minutes later, before goals from Benjamin Nygren and Sebastian Tounekti in the second half increased the fun factor."
"That's the most natural thing in the world, even the very, very best sides if you're not getting a result. Players then stop doing things that they almost like naturally would do. There's some of the lads in the dressing room that would have no idea who I was but they're only about 10 years old and some of the other lads, I said we have quite a number of winners in the dressing room."
Martin O'Neill returned as interim manager alongside Shaun Maloney and led Celtic to a 4-0 win over Falkirk at Parkhead. Johnny Kenny scored twice, with Benjamin Nygren and Sebastian Tounekti adding second-half goals. Dermot Desmond sat in the directors' box while fans protested outside over the summer transfer window. Celtic moved six points behind Premiership leaders Hearts and remained five ahead of Rangers. The team will face Rangers in the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden. O'Neill received a rousing reception and said restoring confidence and recognizing winners in the dressing room were key to the performance.
