Souttar commits future to Rangers
"It is an exciting time to be here and an exciting time to be involved at the club so I am delighted, I understand the position I am in, how much of a privilege it is to play here, the demands here and I am personally really happy and excited to know my future is here."
"We are delighted John has agreed this new contract with the club. Keeping our best players and our leaders is very important to having success going forward, while having a Scottish presence in the squad is also going to be key. This is great news for everyone at the club with so much to look forward to between now and the end of the season, and hopefully for John, a World Cup to come at the end of it."
John Souttar has signed a new contract with Rangers running until May 2027, with an option for an extra year. The 29-year-old defender joined Rangers in summer 2022 after progressing through the Dundee United academy and spending over six years at Hearts. Souttar was part of the Rangers squad that won the Scottish League Cup in 2023–24 and has been a key figure as Danny Rohl’s side chase the Scottish Premiership title. Rangers sit two points behind league leaders Hearts following a recent 4–2 victory over Hearts. The club and manager view Souttar as a central leader in the squad.
