Suspended sentence for Norway player over video
"be open to all of you about a stupid mistake I did"
"ready to face the consequences"
"watch or spread videos with harmful or offensive content"
"The offence I will be convicted for does not reflect on who I am as a person and what I stand for,"
Andreas Schjelderup, 21, received a two-week suspended prison sentence after a Danish court found him guilty of sharing sexual material of two boys under 18. He received a 27-second video on Snapchat, forwarded it to a group chat of four friends, and deleted it once he realised its content. He was 19 and playing for Nordsjaelland at the time. He pleaded guilty after cooperating with police. He will serve jail time only if convicted of another crime within 12 months. The prosecution had sought at least 20 days. Benfica expressed support. He apologised on Instagram, called it a stupid mistake, said he was ready to face consequences, urged people not to watch or spread harmful videos, and said the offence does not reflect who he is. He has eight caps for Norway and was an unused substitute as they beat Italy to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
