Arsenal won the UEFA Champions League, ending Barcelona and Lyon's recent dominance and giving England its first Champions League title since 2007. Gotham FC repeated as NWSL champions; Tampa Bay Sun FC won the inaugural USL Super League; the Northern Super League launched. Several notable players missed the ranking due to injury or pregnancy.
