"We weren't due on stage until after 6pm, so I looked to see if there was a match I could go and watch. It was the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup, so I thought that it would be good for me to get away and out of my head by going to see a football match, in the same way some people go to an art gallery or meditate. So I found out Penrith were playing Pickering Town and went along to the game on my own."

The best features, fun and footballing quizzes, straight to your inbox every week. After the game, I had a bit of a panic because I couldn't get a taxi to take me back to the festival I was worried that I wasn't going to make it back for our stage time."
Felix White toured in 2024 with his band 86TVs alongside his brothers Will and Hugo and drummer Jamie Morrison. He stepped out of the tour bubble to follow every stage of the FA Cup from the extra preliminary round in August through Wembley in May. The journey began at non-league Penrith, where he attended a match alone during a festival stop and heard local stories about Penrith's 1981 run. Service stations became markers of time on tour, and football offered a way to step out of his head like a gallery or meditation. A taxi crisis at the ground prompted club intervention and underscored the close ties between football and life.
