Van Dijk wants 'very important' Robertson to stay
Virgil van Dijk described Andy Robertson as a very important member of Liverpool and said he wants him to stay. Tottenham opened talks with Liverpool over a potential January move as Robertson approaches the end of his contract. Robertson joined from Hull City in 2017 for £8m, has made 364 appearances and won nine trophies, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League. The 31-year-old is no longer the regular first-choice left-back, has started just four Premier League games this season, and is considering options to secure more regular playing time. Manager Arne Slot declined to discuss transfers publicly.
""He's my vice-captain," said Van Dijk. "Robbo is a very important member of our team and I want him to stay but whatever happens, let's see.""
""That's not on me, is it?""
""What do you think my answer is going to be? Have I ever said anything about transfers in front of these microphones," said Slot. "My answer is always the same and it's quite boring to always give the same answer - we don't talk about transfers in public.""
