He has scored four goals in 10 appearances for promoted Cremonese, who sit ninth in Serie A. Vardy scored nine goals in 35 Premier League games last season for Leicester, who were relegated. The award combines fan votes with statistical data using data-tracking software to evaluate movement without the ball, game choices, and contribution to team technical and physical efficiency. Other English players to appear in Serie A since 2019 include Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ashley Young and Tammy Abraham.
