Edson Alvarez has joined Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce on loan from West Ham United with an option to make the move permanent next summer. The 27-year-old Mexico international signed for West Ham from Ajax in a 35m deal in 2023. He made 73 appearances for West Ham, scoring two goals and providing three assists. Alvarez was an unused substitute in West Ham's opening Premier League defeat at Sunderland and was not included in the squad for the 5-1 home loss to Chelsea. Alvarez captained Mexico and scored the winning goal in the Concacaf Gold Cup final against the USA. Fenerbahce are managed by Jose Mourinho and added Nelson Semedo and Jhon Duran this summer.
