'Why is Visma racing like that?' - Former Tour de France winner Bjarne Riis blasts stage 6 strategy used by Jonas Vingegaard's squad
Briefly

Bjarne Riis criticized Visma-Lease a Bike's tactics during stage six of the Tour de France, expressing confusion over their aggressive racing strategy. He highlighted efforts to keep Wout van Aert in the early break but questioned the efficiency of these moves. Visma's attempt to prevent Tadej Pogačar from 'loaning' the yellow jersey to Mathieu van der Poel ultimately failed. Riis criticized Van Aert for his amateur-like riding and suggested the team should refocus their approach to conserve energy and enhance performance against rivals.
I simply don't understand it. Why is Visma racing the way they are today? It ends up with a lot of wasted effort. In my opinion, they don't do much right - and almost everything wrong.
Riis has criticized Van Aert for riding almost like an amateur. He rides off headlong instead of waiting for the right breakaway to happen. I would have stopped it right away.
It makes absolutely no sense to me to ride so aggressively from kilometre 0, when the whole peloton wants to break away.
Riis suggested that the squad should focus more on their leading tactics instead of the aggressive strategies they are employing in the race.
