Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the iconic NBA player and advocate for social justice, will address Harvard's Class of 2025 during the Class Day celebration on May 28. A champion on the court and a humanitarian, Abdul-Jabbar is celebrated for his contributions to building a just world. He encourages the graduating class to embrace their potential and continue learning and growing. Recognized by the Presidential Medal of Freedom, he has made significant impacts both as a basketball player and cultural icon, inspiring future generations through his words and deeds.
"We are so excited to welcome Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the featured Class Day speaker," said Uzma Issa '25, first marshal of the 2025 Class Committee.
"It's a privilege to share this moment with the Class of 2025 and to celebrate all that lies ahead," said Abdul-Jabbar.
"The world needs their ideas, their energy, and their heart. I hope my words will encourage them to keep learning, keep growing, and keep showing up - for themselves and for others."
Abdul-Jabbar is a tireless advocate for social justice and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016 for his contributions on and off the court.
