MasterChef presenter John Torode confirms he was alleged to have used racist language
Briefly

John Torode has acknowledged being the subject of an upheld allegation regarding the use of racist language during a social situation. He stated that he has no recollection of the incident and has always believed that racial language is unacceptable. The allegation is tied to a time frame of 2018 or 2019, where the other party did not perceive the comments as malicious. Gregg Wallace was dismissed from MasterChef before the report's release, which substantiated multiple allegations against him, including unwelcome physical contact. Wallace expressed remorse for any distress caused.
John Torode confirmed he was the person alleged to have used racist language but said he had no recollection of the incident and was shocked and saddened by the allegation.
The allegation is that I did so sometime in 2018 or 2019, in a social situation, and that the person I was speaking with did not believe that it was intended in a malicious way.
I have absolutely no recollection of any of this, and I do not believe that it happened. However, I want to be clear that I've always had the view that any racial language is wholly unacceptable in any environment.
Wallace was sacked from MasterChef prior to the release of the report, which included one allegation of unwelcome physical contact that was upheld.
