Wicked: For Good to change 'harmful' plot from the musical

The upcoming film adaptation, Wicked: For Good, will alter elements of the original musical's plot to address concerns of harm towards disabled audiences. Actress Marissa Bode, the first wheelchair user to play Nessarose, explains that changes were made after feedback from the disabled community highlighted negative portrayals of disability. The storyline will retain elements of magic, while shifting away from themes of 'fixing' disabled characters, which co-writer Winnie Holzman acknowledged could foster harmful stereotypes.
