Pinterest users are expressing outrage over unexpected account bans that result in the loss of years of curated content. Many are turning to social media to share their frustrations, emphasizing how vital Pinterest is for both personal and professional projects. The platform's mixed approach to content moderation, combining AI and human review, has been criticized, with users alleging that they have adhered to the community guidelines. With claims of being unjustly banned, users fear accessing their accounts, leading to significant disruptions in their creative work.
"I had a beautiful Pinterest board with over 26,000 of the most beautiful images and my account was just permanently banned," one user posted on X.
"It's the industry standard to present a moodboard before any project goes into action, and the sheer amount of valuable references I've lost out on since being banned is hard to describe," wrote one Reddit user.
"I made a new account, didn't even add anything yet. Get an email saying I'm banned/suspended," one user posted on X.
Many are pointing the finger at AI, as Pinterest's Help Center states that it uses AI in "improving content moderation." The system has led to significant user frustrations.
