Redis Returns to Open Source under AGPL License: Is It Too Late?
Briefly

Redis has reverted to an open-source model with the release of Redis 8 under the AGPLv3 license. After a year of challenges following the switch to the SSPLv1 license, which prompted a significant fork called Valkey, the project re-embraced its open-source roots by rehiring its creator, Salvatore Sanfilippo. The latest version boasts numerous performance enhancements, including notable speed increases for commands and replication, and introduces a beta feature for Vector Sets.
Redis 8 has shifted back to an open-source license, now under the AGPLv3, following community feedback and the success of the Valkey fork.
Performance improvements in Redis 8 include up to 87% faster commands and up to 2x higher throughput and better replication speeds.
