Vince Zampella, a creator of the Call of Duty franchise, died at 55. Electronic Arts announced his death and did not disclose a cause. Zampella founded Respawn Entertainment in 2010 and previously served as chief executive of Infinity Ward. Call of Duty debuted in 2003 as a World War II simulation and has sold more than 500 million copies worldwide, later expanding into modern warfare entries and an upcoming film adaptation. Zampella led creation of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Electronic Arts described his influence as profound and far-reaching and said his work helped shape modern interactive entertainment.
