Cologne-based biotech company SenseUP has successfully raised €2.4 million in Seed funding led by Capnamic, with contributions from HBG Ventures, CHECK24 Impact, and Rockstart. The funding aims to enhance SenseUP's product offerings, expand its team, and strengthen industry collaborations. The company focuses on developing dsRNA-based biopesticides that are sustainable and compatible with existing farming methods while addressing the challenge of crop losses due to pests. CEO Dr. Georg Schaumann emphasizes the urgency of tackling crop damage and the detrimental effects of chemical pesticides on biodiversity and soil health.
We are impressed with the team's passion and the early commercial validation of its technology. Alongside HBG Ventures, CHECK24 Impact, and Rockstart, we are excited to support SenseUP's continued growth.
Our technology addresses the urgent global challenge of crop losses due to pests and pathogens, which reach 17-30 per cent each year and represent billions of dollars in production losses.
SenseUP has everything it takes to drive the shift towards sustainable agriculture. Its 100 per cent biological technology tackles one of the industry's biggest challenges.
The UN Environment Programme has set a target to phase out highly hazardous pesticides by 2035, where replacements are available.
