Pronto.ai, a startup specializing in autonomous haulage systems for construction and mining, has acquired Safe AI to bolster its engineering talent and technology. The acquisition involves the team and intellectual property of a 12-person startup, enhancing Pronto's capabilities in a competitive market. Levandowski emphasized the importance of growing the team and resources to accelerate development. The use of advanced sensors and artificial intelligence allows Pronto to operate haul trucks autonomously, leveraging the Pollen Mobile data network for improved connectivity.
"In the autonomous haulage system space, there's really kind of two players - it's SafeAI and us," Levandowski stated, highlighting the competitive market landscape. "We’ve been growing a ton and needed to add more people and resources to the team, so it made sense to purchase them ... have more wood behind fewer arrows so that we could grow faster."
Pronto, co-founded in 2018, uses advanced sensors, cameras and artificial intelligence to operate haul trucks autonomously. It relies on Pollen Mobile to exchange data anonymously and at high speeds without legacy carriers, supporting connectivity in remote sites.
