HTTPBot, a newly discovered botnet malware, primarily targets the gaming industry, tech firms, and educational institutions in China. Active since August 2024, it employs advanced techniques such as simulated HTTP Flood attacks and obfuscation to evade detection. Unlike traditional DDoS tactics, HTTPBot focuses on high-value interfaces like gaming logins and payment systems, marking a shift towards more precision in cyberattacks. NSFOCUS reported that the botnet has issued approximately 200 attack instructions since April 2025, indicating a significant rise in activity and threats to industries reliant on real-time responses.
Over the past few months, it has expanded aggressively, continuously leveraging infected devices to launch external attacks.
This attack with 'scalpel-like' precision poses a systemic threat to industries that rely on real-time interaction.
