"No star burned brighter than Tony Geary. He was one of a kind. As an artist, he was filled with a passion for the truth, no matter how blunt, or even a little rude it might be, but always hilariously funny. Anthony "Tony" Geary died in Amsterdam on December 14 at age 78 from complications of surgery performed three days earlier. He played Luke Spencer on General Hospital for 28 years and won seven Daytime Emmy Awards, the record for Leading Actor in a Drama Series. Luke Spencer was an anti-heroic figure who combined violence, greed, arrogance and chauvinism with romantic sensitivity. The character’s storyline included a sexual assault of Laura Webber and a controversial ensuing romance.
