Netflix recast the lead role of Geralt, replacing Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth for the latest season. Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt in the video games, praised Hemsworth as holding up well and making the role his own. Cavill announced his departure in 2022, triggering fan petitions and plans that included a possible return to Superman that did not come to fruition. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and producers considered ending the series but chose to continue with Geralt recast. Hemsworth will star in the fifth and final season. CD Projekt is developing The Witcher 4 and a remake of the first game with Fool's Theory.
