Pluribus' Episode 5 Recap: What Happened?
"After Carol (Rhea Seehorn) finally started her investigation in earnest last week, episode 5 finally tears into the hive mind's sinister work behind the scenes. So far, we've mostly only seen Zosia (Karolina Wydra) and her Albuquerque crew around Carol's house and the hospital. However, we know that they're all living somewhere and up to somethinglikely trying to figure out how to turn Carol (and our new friend) into one of them. Well, as Carol continues digging into their daily activities this week, she uncovers something far darker."
"Last week, Carol began writing down everything that she's learned about the hive mind. They can't kill anything or anyone, they aim to make her happy until they can turn her into one of them, and they're weirdly honest. For all we know, that's just surface-level knowledge. I'd love to see what all the other immune people have learned, but our protagonist isn't exactly on speaking terms with them. She keeps accidentally injuring their family members, and they're mostly blind to the fact that their loved ones have already turned."
Apple TV released the next Pluribus episode two days early because of the Thanksgiving holiday. Episode 5 focuses on Carol intensifying her investigation into the hive mind and its Albuquerque-linked members. The hive mind cannot kill and aims to keep targets happy until conversion, while remaining unsettlingly honest. Carol documents her findings and attempts contact with other immune survivors through taped messages. The Albuquerque group withdraws after Carol's coercive tactics, leaving her more isolated. As Carol digs into their daily routines she discovers a far darker element, but the episode ends on a cliffhanger delaying the reveal.
