Throughout the shooting, adjustments are made to the jokes and character reactions, showcasing the spontaneity central to the show.
Nandor the Relentless is a once-imposing Ottoman general, now a softhearted vampire who reads self-help books. Laszlo is a randy Victorian gentleman of science. Nadja is a headstrong former peasant, and Colin Robinson is an energy vampire who drains the life out of others.
Demetriou, several months pregnant, learns tricks to conceal her belly while filming. She uses objects like buckets and pillows to creatively hide her pregnancy during scenes.
The roommates decide to meet every night to work on their centuries-old plan for conquering the New World. Nandor enthusiastically delivers his speech multiple times with rapid-fire takes, adjusting improvised jokes throughout.
During filming, Demetriou checks with director Kyle Newacheck about the tone of her character's reaction to Nandor's speech, questioning if her performance should be enthusiastic or more reserved.
