Marvel Studios released the miniseries Marvel Zombies and an official trailer while slowing the pace of other new releases. The miniseries adapts the Marvel Comics series and branches from the 2021 What If...? episode that features zombified Avengers and belongs to MCU Phase Six. In that timeline, Hank Pym entered the quantum realm to rescue Janet, who returned as a zombie from a quantum virus and infected Hank while Hope escaped. Within 24 hours much of the northwestern US became infected, including many Avengers. Vision's Mind Stone can reverse the infection; Vision, Hope, and the Hulk sacrificed themselves while Spider-Man, Ant-Man, T'Challa, and the Cloak traveled to Wakanda to broadcast the Mind Stone, unaware Thanos was already there as a zombie with a near-complete Infinity Gauntlet.
