The Dalai Lama expressed the possibility of the continuation of the Dalai Lama institution in a recent celebration prior to his 90th birthday. He stated that discussions regarding its future should involve the Tibetan people. Although he has suggested that he may be the last Dalai Lama, he believes his reincarnation could be found outside Tibet, possibly in India. The Dalai Lama emphasized his current health and indicated that discussions about succession are increasingly urgent as he approaches his centenary.
