"A man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in Ajax on Friday night, Durham Regional Police say. The fatal collision happened on Taunton Road E. near the intersection with Warner Drive. Police were called to the area for a pedestrian collision shortly before 7 p.m. When officers arrived, they found an injured man and a vehicle that had sustained damage, according to Acting Duty Insp. Andre Wyatt."
"Bystanders were providing first aid to the man, Wyatt said. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene. His age has not been released. Wyatt said the driver was eastbound on Taunton Road E. when it struck the man who was walking north. He was not in a crosswalk at the time, Wyatt said. The driver remained on the scene. "There's no indication that the driver will be charged in this incident, not at this time, anyway," Wyatt said."
