Leafs president Shanahan won't have contract renewed after team's 2nd-round playoff exit | CBC Sports
Briefly

Brendan Shanahan's contract as president of the Toronto Maple Leafs will not be renewed after a decade of leadership, marked by only two playoff series victories and consistent postseason disappointments. Despite boasting a star-studded roster, dubbed the 'Core Four', the team struggled in playoff series, most recently being eliminated by the Florida Panthers. In a statement, Shanahan expressed gratitude for the support he received during his tenure and lamented the inability to deliver a Stanley Cup to the fans, marking his biggest regret.
I want to thank the board of MLSE for the tremendous support they have shown me over my tenure. Being a part of this historic franchise will always be one of the greatest honours of my life.
While I am proud of the rebuild we embarked on starting in 2014, ultimately, I came here to help win the Stanley Cup, and we did not.
