She was chatting with friends in a Lyft. Then someone texted her what they said | CBC News
Briefly

Toronto resident Anvi Ahuja received an unsolicited text message containing a transcript of a private conversation she had during a Lyft ride home. Alarmed, she contacted Lyft and learned that the incident was part of a pilot program, which later was denied by the company. Lyft acknowledged the occurrence but indicated that actions were taken against the driver, highlighting serious implications for privacy within ride-sharing services. Ahuja expressed discomfort with the idea that conversations in such environments are not secure.
"These ride-sharing apps are big companies and people have a lot of sensitive conversations within cabs and they feel like they're secure... it's really freaky and uncomfortable to me."
"I was like 'who is tapping me?'... The driver didn't inform us that we could be recorded.”
"Proper actions were taken against the driver" as communicated by Lyft after the incident.
A representative mentioned this was something the ride-sharing company was piloting, but later Lyft declared this incident is not part of the U.S. pilot program.
