On a flight, personal space is scarce, making the temptation to switch seats appealing. However, unauthorized seat changes can disrupt boarding and violate safety protocols. Flight attendants advise passengers to remain in their assigned seats until boarding concludes and to seek assistance for legitimate seat issues. Asking for permission to move is essential as it aligns with airline etiquette and ensures adherence to safety regulations. Jumping to an open seat not only creates annoyance but also can delay flight operations.

If you do have a legitimate issue with your seat assignment- you're not placed next to your child, say, or something at your seat is broken- politely flag down a flight attendant to assist you.
During boarding, passengers are required to remain in their assigned seats. However, there are situations where switching or moving seats may be necessary.
