Backpacking backpacks were thoroughly tested across various trips to assess their functionality and suitability for different users. Options from leading brands like REI and Osprey were evaluated. The Deuter Aircontact Ultra is lightweight but small for full gear. The Nemo Persist 45L offers even weight distribution but lacks organization features. The Granite Gear Crown 3 presents adjustable options but sits directly on the user's back. Overall, a range of backpacks were assessed for support, durability, and ease of access based on diverse needs.
I carried this pack while hiking the Camino de Santiago in Spain and loved the lightweight design and storage features. However, I did not need to pack a tent or sleeping gear, and this pack would likely be too small for those additions.
While we love this compact pack that distributes weight evenly, 45 liters is a bit small for a backpacking backpack, and it lacks organizational features.
We love that the Re-fit waist belt can be removed for greater adjustments, but we found the minimalist pack sat directly on our backs.
I've tested packs that end up weighing me down, and I've used packs that make it hard to access gear, but I've also used backpacks that are supportive, durable, and tear-resistant for use on rugged hiking and camping trips.
