This Cozy 10-room Retreat in New York's Finger Lakes Region Is the Perfect Winter Getaway
"By the time I pulled up to the Inns of Aurora Resort & Spa, it felt like it had been below freezing for weeks. New York was locked in a meteorological cold plunge: the forecast high for the village of Aurora was 2, the low was forecast at -1. Fahrenheit. But the indoor hydrotherapy pool at the resort's spa was set at a blissful 102 degrees, and the thermometer inside the cedar-lined sauna was showing close to 160."
"The newest addition to the portfolio, the Farmhouse, is a 10-room inn overlooking Cayuga Lake in Central New York. It joins five other standalone buildings such as Orchard Cottage, Wallcourt Hall, and Zabriskie House, as well as the centerpiece Aurora Inn. Taken together, the various homes and lodges feel something like an Italian albergo diffuso, scattered as they are around Aurora, each with a different vibe and style."
A severe winter drove a visitor to the Inns of Aurora Resort & Spa, where indoor hydrotherapy and a cedar-lined sauna provided notable warmth and comfort. Aurora features multiple standalone lodgings—Orchard Cottage, Wallcourt Hall, Zabriskie House—and the central Aurora Inn, creating a dispersed hospitality model akin to an Italian albergo diffuso. The Farmhouse is a new 10-room inn overlooking Cayuga Lake that connects Main Street and the lakeside mansions to the spa experience. The hotel group was founded over 20 years ago by Pleasant Rowland, and the collection has broadened Aurora's tourism appeal.
