Claudiu-Carol Kondor, an Amazon delivery driver, was killed while trying to prevent Mark Ross from stealing his van. The incident occurred in Leeds when Ross climbed into the vehicle, prompting Mr. Kondor to cling on for half a mile as Ross drove dangerously, ultimately resulting in a crash. Ross was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison. Mr. Kondor's fiancée, Mariana Gheorghe, highlighted his aspirations and dedication to his work, stating that he had recently achieved his dream of owning a delivery van just weeks prior to his tragic death.
Mr. Kondor clung onto the vehicle for half-a-mile as the defendant hit speeds of up to 60mph, swerving in an effort to knock him off.
Ms. Gheorghe, the victim's fiancée, expressed in her statement how after Mr. Kondor's tragic death, everything feels difficult, emphasizing their shared values of hard work.
