Ballymena riots: Fire started and windows smashed at Larne Leisure Centre
Briefly

Violent protests have erupted in various towns across Northern Ireland, particularly in Ballymena, where multiple arrests have been made and officers injured. The PSNI is uncertain about possible paramilitary involvement in the unrest. Assistant Chief Constable Ryan Henderson stated that the intelligence is unclear. The violence follows complaints regarding housing displacements, and Northern Ireland Secretary Hilary Benn plans to visit the impacted area. Both local residents and politicians, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, have condemned the violence, calling it mindless and unacceptable.
It is understood there is currently nobody inside the Leisure Centre.
At this point it's not clear to us or through intelligence or what we're hearing if there's paramilitary coordination to it.
Seven people have been arrested and 33 PSNI officers were injured over two nights of what the PSNI Chief Constable has described as "mindless violence".
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has also condemned "mindless attacks" during the outbreak of violence in Ballymena and other parts of Northern Ireland.
