Briefly

The beloved BBC series Call the Midwife, set in London’s East End during the 50s and 60s, is coming to a close after 15 successful series. While the final season is slated to air in January 2026, fans can look forward to a two-part Christmas special in 2025. Alongside the series finale, a prequel set during World War II is planned for 2026. Moreover, a film featuring iconic characters from the series is also in production, promising to maintain a connection to the originally cherished show.
After years of drama and countless births, Call The Midwife is coming to an end. The team have decided it's time to draw the show to a close and bow out.
The 15th and final series of Call the Midwife will consist of eight hour-long episodes and will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from January 2026.
The prequel series will be very different to Call The Midwife, but it will still have the same magic. The storylines will be inspired by true events.
In addition to the new TV series, Neal Street is producing a Call the Midwife film set overseas in 1972, featuring iconic characters from the existing show.
