Docklands bombing victim says he believes Gerry Adams played 'major part' in IRA
"I felt that is not right for all of the innocent victims who have suffered. Some kind of justice, that is correct. That would be a fair statement. I don't suggest for one minute that Mr Adams drove the lorry or planted the bomb but I do believe he played a major part in the IRA and I thought he had some involvement with the attack."
"Mr Ganesh was injured in the 1996 London Docklands bombing, which killed his friends Inam Bashir and John Jeffries and injured more than 100 others. Along with John Clark, a victim of the 1973 Old Bailey bombing in London, and Barry Laycock, a victim of the 1996 Arndale shopping centre bombing in Manchester, the three men allege that Mr Adams was a leading member of the Provisional IRA on those dates, including of its Army Council."
Jonathan Ganesh, injured in the 1996 London Docklands bombing that killed two of his friends and over 100 others, testified in a High Court civil case against former Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams. Ganesh, along with John Clark (1973 Old Bailey bombing victim) and Barry Laycock (1996 Arndale bombing victim), alleges Adams was a leading Provisional IRA member and Army Council member during these attacks. The three men seek £1 in damages. Ganesh stated his motivation stemmed from concern about Adams' legal actions against the UK Government, feeling it was unjust to victims. He clarified he does not believe Adams directly planted bombs but believes he held significant IRA involvement in the attacks. Adams denies any Provisional IRA role and opposes the claim.
