"From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging."
"The first saplings grown from the iconic Sycamore Gap are set to be planted after the beloved tree was illegally felled, the National Trust has announced. Five saplings will go in the ground on Saturday as National Tree Week kicks off, with more than half of the 49 trees of hope from the sycamore to be planted over the course of the week."
The Independent seeks donations to fund on-the-ground reporting across issues such as reproductive rights, climate change, and Big Tech, and emphasizes free access to journalism without paywalls funded by those who can afford it. Donations enable reporters to interview both sides and maintain nationwide coverage. The National Trust will plant the first saplings grown from seeds and material rescued from the felled Sycamore Gap tree, with five saplings scheduled for planting as National Tree Week begins and more than half of the 49 commemorative trees due to be planted during the week. Two people were convicted for the tree's illegal felling.
