Detectives are investigating an arson attack on Blackwater Garda Station in County Wexford in the early hours of Tuesday morning. A window was smashed and an accelerant was used to set fire to the building. CCTV shows a suspect arriving, throwing an object at the station, and fleeing by bicycle. The incident occurred at about 2.50am, and a petrol cap was later found at the scene amid extensive damage. Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s in Wexford on Thursday and detained him for questioning. The suspect is a horse trainer previously prosecuted for road traffic offences. Investigators are examining whether a personal grudge against gardaí and possible intoxication motivated the attack. He can be detained up to 24 hours before being charged or released pending an investigative file to the DPP.
