The misconduct proceedings for three police officers regarding the strip search of a girl identified as Child Q are underway, following an incident in December 2020 where she was searched at her school by officers who suspected her of carrying cannabis. Officer Rajon Rahman testified that his training concerning school searches was inadequate, stating he was not prepared for the scenario. He indicated he assumed a strip search would occur based on radio communications prior to arriving at the school, pointing to a broader issue of training deficiencies within police protocols on such sensitive matters.
PC Rahman stated that his training at Hendon did not sufficiently cover searches conducted in schools, indicating a lack of preparedness for such situations.
Rahman noted, 'Through what I heard on the radio and the request for a female officer, it was a logical deduction at the time' regarding the assumption of a strip search.
