R&A weighs return to Trump's Turnberry for Open
Briefly

The R&A is interested in bringing Turnberry back as a venue for The Open golf tournament. Chief executive Mark Darbon emphasized that assessments are needed to address logistical and commercial challenges at the site, particularly concerning transportation and accommodations. The last Open at Turnberry was in 2009. While the R&A had previously decided against staging future championships there post-January 6 Capitol riots, Darbon stated that logistical concerns, rather than political reasons, are the focus. The upcoming Open at Royal Portrush is expected to attract a record attendance of 278,000 fans.
"At Turnberry, there are definitely some logistical and commercial challenges that we face around the road, rail and accommodation infrastructure," Darbon told British media.
"The last time we were there [Turnberry], I think we had just over 120,000 people," Darbon said. "We've just announced that this summer we're going to welcome nearly 280,000 people here [at Royal Portrush]. A modern Open Championship is a large-scale event."
