Sixty firefighters tackle fire at three-storey building in Battersea
"The fire has now been brought under control by firefighters but crews remain on scene to fully extinguish the fire and to dampen down. No one has been reported injured. People in the area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed at the height of the fire due to smoke travelling from the incident. A spokesperson for LFB said: Battersea Park Road remains closed between the junctions of Queenstown Road and Havelock Terrace."
"The Brigade received the first of 17 calls about the fire at 1428 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Clapham, Battersea, Lambeth, Brixton and surrounding fire stations to the scene. A 32-metre turntable ladder from Clapham Fire Station has also been in attendance and used as a water tower to help extinguish the fire from above. The fire was brought under control by 1555. The cause of the fire is under investigation."
A fire broke out on the second floor and part of the roof of a Battersea building that houses Ayia cocktail bar and restaurant on the ground floor. Fire crews from Clapham, Battersea, Lambeth, Brixton and nearby stations were mobilised after 17 calls, and a 32-metre turntable ladder was used as a water tower. Battersea Park Road was closed between Queenstown Road and Havelock Terrace, causing major traffic disruption. The fire was brought under control by 15:55; crews remained to extinguish and dampen down. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
