Taoiseach Micheál Martin stated that the Irish authorities were unaware of deportees aboard a flight from the US that landed in Co Clare. This flight continued despite a Boston judge's ruling suggesting the Department of Homeland Security's actions may have violated court orders. Martin indicated there are international legal frameworks concerning aircraft operations, but inquiries will be conducted, and he anticipated a report from the Departments of Transport and Foreign Affairs soon. He expressed a desire to avoid hasty responses regarding diplomatic clearance for civil flights.
I wouldn't think so... there are various international agreements and legal agreements that pertain to aircraft landing and refuelling.
These are matters that we will review and engage with our partners in the US... because obviously our planes fly and land in different locations to refuel.
