TfL denies it has plans to shut the Elizabeth line's ticket offices
"The union says that the closure information came to light when the union were given sight of unredacted documents signalling that the ticket offices would be earmarked for closure by 2027. The RMT General Secretary Eddie Dempsey said: "After the biggest wave of public opposition we've seen in years to ticket office closures, it's beyond belief that similar plans are being put back on the table for the Elizabeth Line.""
"It's not to say that documents haven't discussed it, as all organisations will have proposals that are looked at and approved or dismissed as unviable. Whatever document the RMT has seen seems to have been filed in the reject pile. Although the core stations on the network don't have ticket offices, where the stations are shared on Network Rail lines outside the core, they provide fully staffed ticket offices at each station. Elizabeth line services are operated by GTS Rail Operations under a TfL concession."
Transport for London denies plans to close Elizabeth line ticket offices and states there are no plans to close ticket offices. The RMT union reported unredacted documents suggesting ticket offices would be earmarked for closure by 2027 and described the move as returning previously opposed proposals. TfL said proposals considered by organisations can be approved or dismissed as unviable and indicated any such document appears to have been rejected. Core Elizabeth line stations lack ticket offices, while shared stations on Network Rail lines maintain fully staffed ticket offices. Elizabeth line services are operated by GTS Rail Operations under a TfL concession.
