A devastating fire at Bicester Motion in Oxfordshire has claimed the lives of two firefighters and left others seriously injured. The fire, which occurred at a motoring and aviation center on a former RAF airbase, prompted a massive emergency response with ten fire crews dispatched. Witnesses reported hearing multiple explosions and seeing thick smoke billowing from the site. Fire Chief Rob MacDougall expressed deep sorrow over the fatalities, stating that the families are being supported and asking for privacy during this tragic time.
Chief Fire Officer Rob MacDougall stated, "It is with a very heavy heart that we today report the loss of two of our firefighters. Families have been informed and are being supported. Our thoughts are with them at this most difficult of times and we ask for privacy to be respected."
A South Central Ambulance spokesman noted, "We were called at 18.57 this evening to reports of a serious incident at Bicester Motion. We sent a robust command structure to support staff and are currently on scene as the incident is ongoing."
