At Middleton Road, Crumpsall a car was driven into members of the public and a man was stabbed outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue. Firearms officers shot dead a man who is believed to be the offender; police could not confirm his status earlier due to safety concerns from suspicious items on his person. Police declared Plato, the code-word for a marauding terror attack, and urged people to avoid the area while officers remain deployed across key local sites.
