"Our EV target of being all-electric by 2030, that's just not going to happen based on everything that's happening in society,"
"just not going to happen"
"high upfront EV costs, limited charging access and inconsistent policy support"
Uber has abandoned its 2030 all-electric fleet pledge and will no longer aim to be fully electric across major markets by that date. The 2020 target has become unrealistic as drivers, consumers and governments turn away from electric vehicles and external conditions worsen. London remains less than halfway toward earlier net-zero ambitions despite being the most advanced market for EV adoption. Barriers include high upfront EV costs, limited charging access, inconsistent policy support, scaled-back subsidies, new taxes such as UK pay-per-mile, and rising electricity prices. Uber will still increase EV proportions on its platform but cannot meet the original deadline.
