UK heatwave finally eases with thundery showers and cooler air on way
A UK heatwave is expected to ease slightly on Thursday, with London forecast to reach 31C after 35.1C recorded at Kew Gardens on Tuesday. The Midlands and North West are expected to see highs around 28C. Another tropical night with temperatures above 20C is unlikely. Warm conditions will largely continue, especially in the south, with fresher and possibly showery conditions anticipated from Friday into the weekend. The Met Office forecast calls for a warm start to Thursday with showers, possibly thundery, moving northwards and clearing northern England, followed by rising temperatures and hazier sunshine in the west. From Friday to Sunday, conditions are largely dry with sunny spells and very warm temperatures on Friday, then a band of rain spreads eastwards over the weekend, bringing some fresher, showery weather.
"The outlook for Friday to Sunday says: Largely dry with sunny spells and very warm once again on Friday. A band of rain then gradually spreads eastwards over the weekend introducing some fresher and possibly showery conditions."
