In December 2024, under its current owners, offices found a woman working illegally. During her interviews with the Home Office, she told officers that she worked around 40 to 45 hours per week, and was paid 9 per hour, which was below the 11.44 minimum wage."

Cllr Ball then asked him to clarify how much he was paying the illegal worker, to which Mr Kumar said: I didn't pay anything, I just help out with the food, that's it."

In December 2024 officers found a woman working illegally under current owners; she told Home Office interviews she worked about 40 to 45 hours weekly and was paid £9 per hour, below the £11.44 minimum wage. Owner Rahul Kumar told councillors he did not pay cash, saying he just helped out with the food. Kumar said he repeatedly asked for right-to-work documents over three months. His son said Kumar did not own the shop until mid-2024.
