Wintry conditions persisted along the UK's coasts with wintry showers expected on north Scotland's windward coast and on the east and west coasts of the UK. Central inland areas remained brighter and drier. Snow fell overnight across London, Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Essex, Shropshire and Northumberland. Weather stations recorded up to 7cm of lying snow at Lake Vyrnwy, and notable amounts in Scottish locations: 5cm in Lerwick, 4cm in Loch Glascarnoch, 7cm in Altnaharra and 2cm in Aviemore, with 1cm in several other stations. Fronts moved south while wintry showers continued, and amber and other warnings covered expected accumulations.
